Midtown Restaurant

This project involved turning an existing commercial space into a “relaxed modern” tapas restaurant. Working with Paul Syme of 3rd Uncle under a tight budget and even tighter construction deadlines, the transformation involved stripping the space back to its basic shell, installing new lighting, constructing a new bar out of reclaimed Douglas fir, and the installation of acoustic baffling, new wiring, and plumbing.

The most challenging improvisational aspect of this project was the assembly of Cava’s unique tables, which incorporate a slate insert for piping-hot plates and grommets for custom cone holders based on off-the-shelf chemistry-lab components.
