Beach House

This historic home in the Beach neighbourhood was originally constructed as a 1/3-scale replica of a British manor house. Extraordinary original millwork detail was restored and blended with an open, modern kitchen/dining and bathroom renovation, exteriors, and updated electrical and mechanical throughout the gracious three-storey structure.

Working closely with Lisa Rapoport (Plant Architects), this renovation involved many “invisible” structural challenges: the insertion of beams to open up and support the back of the house, the seamless brickwork repairs to match the quality and mortar, the “surgical” insertion of a complex skylight framework, creatively installed from the outside to minimize interior disturbance.
