Annex House

The extensive interior renovation of this grand historic Annex home involved the modernization of the kitchen and addition of a new master bathroom, while restoring and maintaining original architectural moldings and details (including recasting turn-of-the-century details).

The successful blending of historic elements and new construction depended on many small, visible and invisible details: waterproofing the basement, rewiring the whole house without damaging the original plaster work, restoring three fireplaces, replacing and duplicating the original tall baseboards, and marrying old and new with subtle reveal details.

Tania Bortolotto was responsible for conceptual design and Jim Clark for the kitchen.
